about me
My name is Jonas, and I am 35 years old. I am the CEO of Solutiance, a platform service provider for building operations, offering unique and highly efficient services with the help of software and intelligent process management.
I am fascinated by software and its impact on the world and have been programming for nearly all my life. At the age of eight, I started writing my first programs on an old personal computer that I received as a Christmas present. That was when I first started dreaming of founding my own software company one day. In the following years, I further improved my skill set and released my first freeware tools on the internet. One particular tool, a streaming client (Tickerz), was featured on a TV show and in the online magazine of a major German newspaper (which made my server crash instantly). That was when I started to earn my first money with online advertisements.
I was incredibly grateful to get the chance to do my bachelor's at the Hasso-Plattner-Institute in Potsdam, thereby benefiting from the advantages of a private education. This allowed me not only to sharpen my IT skills but also to dive into the fields of law and economics during the first semesters. This was perfect preparation for my later business endeavors. IT-Systems-Engineering is not your ordinary IT study but allows you to gather a lot of practical experience. I would recommend it to anybody who wants to get into IT. I wrote my bachelor’s thesis at Hasso Plattner's chair for Enterprise Platforms and Integration Concepts. During my bachelor project, my team and I developed a demand forecasting application implementing several different forecasting algorithms together with our project partners (SAP and MIT).
I spent most of my 20s trying out different business models, founding companies in various fields, mainly to gather experience. Looking back, this has helped me a lot in becoming a good business leader. Making mistakes and learning from them at a very early stage of my career was incredibly beneficial.
As I had already gathered considerable experience in the field of business foundations, I also had the opportunity to work as a freelance business consultant for two organizations in Brandenburg. One focused on supporting students in founding their first company, while the other helped migrants (including refugees) to start their businesses in Germany. A significant part of this work involved helping them navigate the bureaucracy.
In 2015, I founded ConcluTec, a company offering a SaaS solution for signing contracts quickly and safely online. In 2017, my company was acquired by Solutiance in the course of a complete realignment of their business model, which my company had been helping to shape since 2016. In 2018, I became a member of the executive board. Since the acquisition, I have been focusing on designing hybrid services (process management and software) for building operations.
I consider myself a strong platform enthusiast. Unfortunately, many managers only understand digital transformation as an act of "implementing software," while the real challenge is entangling intelligent process management and software in a way that is beneficial for the individual and the company. The overused term "disruption" describes the impact of software on many sectors quite well. However, it is not a good term for driving change because it unsettles those who are impacted by it. Digital transformation is much more an evolution than a revolution that usually involves beheading the old leadership. The main goal of every innovator should be to get everybody on board while encouraging curiosity and spreading a spirit of optimism.
